The “Legacy of My Mothers” quilt series was inspired by Janice’s maternal legacy and reflects her expanded creative practice in textile art. Using discarded quilt remnants, 1980s shoulder pads saved by her mother, and doilies like the ones crafted by her paternal grandmother in the 1960s and 1970s, Janice creates sustainable mixed-media pieces that honor the past while refurbishing its materials for today. Through this work, she explores themes of memory, transformation, and the enduring beauty of repurposed materials. The series celebrates resilience, creativity, and the deep connections between generations.
